Ask us

We're specialists at what we do, so why not take advantage of our knowledge? If you want to know what to buy or how to cook it, just pop into the shop and ask. The stupid question is the one that isn't asked.

Here's a selection of questions we been asked recently:

How do I roast lamb?

Select a prime joint, such as a leg or shoulder. Season the meat to taste - garlic and rosemary is a good combination. Roast for 30 minutes per 500g at 180° celcius. Leave to rest for 30 minutes before carving.

What's a good beef cut for roasting, and how much do I need?

We find that a popular choice, and one that's not available in the supermarkets, is rump end. You should aim for between 1/2 lb and 1lb per person, depending on how hungry they are. Don't forget the fresh Yorkshire Puddings!

I need a quick meal, what can you suggest?

Why not try one of our ready-to-cook pies? With a variety of fillings and all made on the premises, you can be sure they'll please the whole family.

Do you make your own sausages? What's in them?

All our sausages are made on the premises. They contain pork, seasoning, a small amount of rusk and have no added salt. Flavourings vary. If you've got an idea for a sausage recipie then let us know - we'd be delighted to give it a try. When cooking sausages it's best not to prick them and cook them slowly - make sure the pan's not too hot.

Can you provide a crown of lamb?

Of course! We'll even dress it for you if you give us notice. If you want to bring in your own stuffing we'd be delighted to use it for you.

It's difficult to find time to squeeze in all the things we need to do. For this reason we have a variety of time-saving initiatives aimed at giving you more time to do the things that you enjoy.

We're confident that you'll find buying meat from us more convenient than buying from the supermarket.
